01So what is an exosome, really?
These days every product seems to contain exosomes — promising repair, firmness, soothing. Ads call it remarkable, but few actually explain what it is.
Put simply, an exosome is a messenger that cells use to send signals to one another. It's the message skin cells pass around to say, "time to repair." For scale: a cell is roughly 20–40μm, an exosome 30–200nm, and a small molecule under 1nm — exosomes sit in between.
