TikTok holds 50.0% of total interest — but 68.5% of those views are paid, and the top related category is Ad (813.2K). Advertising is pushing this growth hard, while search competition remains low — meaning the organic search and content space is still there for the taking.

Brands Shipped a Serum. Consumers Invented the Usage.

A two-step routine spread among consumers: layering bubble serum (663.5K) over essence (521.1K) to create a "slime-like texture" (320.0K). The function keywords that attached themselves: pore care 743.0K, glow 321.7K, minimizing 287.1K, hydration 96.6K, sensitive skin 93.0K. The way of applying is becoming the content — more than the product itself.

What both brands sold wasn't the foam — it was the reason the foam exists. They didn't change the ingredients; they changed the context.

Korean Beauty Never Exported Ingredients — It Exported Usage

This isn't the first time. Sheet masks turned a spreadable pack into something you place on skin. Toner pads merged toner and cotton pad into one. Spicule formulas brought the clinic sensation home. Bubble serum simply turned liquid into foam.

PRODUCT → FORMAT → CATEGORY

Once a format becomes a category, the fight is over who holds the standard

Global Discovers. Korea Verifies.

In April 2026, bubble toner searches on Kakao Style jumped +2,647% year over year, rising alongside capsule creams and jelly mists as a flagship sensorial format. But within months, surfactant-verification content spread: "It's not a rinse-off product — why is this in here? Was it added just for the foam?"

The industry's rebuttal was also correct: not every surfactant is a cleansing agent. Beyond cleansing, surfactants emulsify, solubilize, stabilize formulas, and form foam. The ingredients in question — Decyl Glucoside and Coco-Glucoside — are APG-class surfactants, and CIR documentation reports some related ingredients used in both rinse-off and leave-on products. The real questions are three: ① which surfactant ② at what concentration ③ why this formula needs it.

Global TikTok — discovery stage

"There's a serum like this" — interest in format and experience

Korea — verification stage

"Why was it made this way" — interest in ingredients and evidence

This time lag is the key. Sensorial formats travel one path: viral → diffusion → copies → verification. After a product sells on novelty, it has to prove why it's necessary. Capsule creams, jelly mists, slime cleansers — the next sensorial format will walk the same road.

The Formula Alone Isn't the Finish Line

① CLAIM  In Korea, pores fall outside functional-cosmetic scope — and even general ads must be able to substantiate efficacy

② PACKAGING  Not every bubble is an aerosol — but compressed-gas formats trigger air-cargo dangerous-goods rules

③ COPY  Visible formats get copied fast — format alone won't hold differentiation. Formula → efficacy → packaging → distribution must be designed together from day one

LUK'S INSIGHT — What You Sell Isn't the Foam

1. Design the reason for the bubble first

No drip, dosage control, makeup compatibility — only formats that start from FUNCTION, not form, survive the verification stage. And move the hook past the foam: anyone can film bubbles; the difference shows in glow, adherence, and skin finish.

2. Own the routine, not the SKU

Consumers already built the essence + bubble combo. Formats get copied; routines are assets. The brand that builds the two-step usage into its product design and product page holds the standard.

3. Don't dodge the ingredient conversation — publish the verification first

"It's naturally derived" isn't enough. Which surfactant, how much, and why — the brand that explains first turns the verification stage from a risk into a trust asset. The bubble will pop; the reason must remain.
